Profound. I thought of 10 people I'd like to send this too. Fantastic in its simplicity....Beautiful truths. Oh more and more of this must go out into the world.
When can I read Part 2? My husband and I sat down on this cold raining day & he read it aloud to me.When he came to the end, he said, "where's part 2?" He is normally an Audible guy (racing mind) but this captured him!
An intriguing read ... the family history, the respectful observations of his readers' personal perspectives, the Biblical connections, & then leaving us with a cliffhanger. I taught students years ago, when "faun" was not yet part of the alliterative responses, that an additional strategy to be considered was "figure it out". I like "feast" as an alternative & will chew on that until next time.

This is fascinating-looking forward to part 2. Well chosen words and excellent writing!
Such clear thinking. A correct focus for the faithful. I want to cheer but will resist as the story is not over. Can’t wait to read part 2.

The point about "pretend" is, I think, exactly why some strands of Eastern Orthodox asceticism identify the Fall with the appearance of phantasia.
I am re-reading it today. And I am recommending it to the deep-hearted people I know who are desperate for food for their souls.
At some point, I'd love a physical bound book, the collected essays of Paul Pastor.
Well I'm awake now. Deep calls until deep. Anxious for part 2

It is amazing. I appreciate the way you go from the personal to the universal. Looking forward to the feast.
Wept reading this.... looking forward to the next part!
Yes! I'm hearing this!
Oh how the weight lifted a little when I read that fifth option...
