Very fine essay. Especially thought provoking for me were remarks on the idea that we might get "over it." Oh that expression! Why would we ever want to be "over" someone we have loved? Really grear to point out that merciful, loving God is never "over it."

I have written three books on bereavement for my company and was delighted with your perceptions and your pointed and lovely prose! How wonderful as those who write about grief extract themselves from the sullen and prescriptive “stages” to discover folks like you who obviously honor the ongoing and imagination rich insights of the heart when “loss” occurs.
